Kymi Sinfonietta - Olari Elts (Dir) // Aho returned to the project of a 2nd Violin Concerto after being contacted by the violinist Vähälä. While aware of the weight of tradition, Aho nevertheless wrote a virtuoso work dominated by the soloist, who is offered many possibilities to realise her own interpretative conception. The 2nd cello concerto is a piece for orchestras of the size of a sinfonietta. Here too the solo writing is particularly well suited to the instrument.
