In the 17th c., the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela enjoyed a golden age, and a polychoral style was abundantly cultivated, giving both solemnity and grandeur to religious ceremonies. Among the maestros that served the cathedral, the Navarran composer stands out. He left a notable vocal legacy in Spanish and Latin after three decades of practice, in which his pieces written for the Holy Week are especially remarkable.
