Arie: O first in wisdom, first in pow'r
Rezitativ: Matrons and virgins, with unwearied pray'r
Arie: Oh, who can tell, oh, who can hear
Rezitativ: Caleb, attend to all I now prescribe
Solo: To long posterity we here record
Accompagnato: So long the memory shall last
Arie: While Kedron's brook to Jordan's stream
Rezitativ: But, who is he?-tremendous to behold
Arie: Awful, pleasing being say
Rezitativ: Joshua, I come commission'd from on high
Accompagnato: Leader of Israel, 'tis the Lord's decree
Rezitativ: To give command, prerogative is thine
Arie: Haste, Israel haste
Chor: The Lord commands, and Joshua leads
