A rival of Domenico de Matteis, Pergolesi's teacher, the irascible violinist Fiorenza is alleged to have struck pupils at the conservatory S. Maria di Loreto with his sword, whilst writing delightful works, full of inventiveness, charm and fancy! His concerti grossi are played with huge brilliance and tastefulness. A programme never before recorded and the discovery of a forgotten and almost endearing character!
