All of the music on this disc has in the past been attributed to J S Bach but is now generally thought to be the work of others. However, in only a few cases has it been possible to identify positively the actual composer. The fact that until well into the latter part of the 18th century most music was transmitted in manuscript is sufficient explanation for the widespread confusion over authorship of works from this period. // Cf.
